Abstract:

The thesis proposes to study the use of Lasers in Cutaneous Surgery, Dermatology and Plastic-Aesthetic Surgery. First, through the development of this technology and its history.

Physical bases are exposed and terms used in the field of laser surgery, as well as the properties of laser light. After defining the characteristics of various lasers,  their effects on living matter were evaluated through their interactions with tissues and more precisely skin .

This thesis describes the various lasers used in skin therapy and plastic-aesthetic surgery, based on their wavelengths, their energy and their characteristics, being continuous , pulsed,  ultrapulsed or Q. Switched.

The use of lasers requires security measures that should be known before using a technology that can be dangerous, both for patients and  therapist. The existing aplications ranging from basic incisions to  skin tumors removal, treatment of vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, tattoos, scars to smoothing skin and rejuvenation.

Comparing conventional techniques, using one or more lasers for a single indication, 244 most interesting cases in 5000 patients treated, have been studied  over a period of 5 years.

The innovation has been to explore further the advantages of laser incisions in a wider range of surgical procedures, including blepharoplasties, facelifts, flaps etc.., from anesthesia techniques to healing and complications.
